Crucifixtion

Resurrection

by Kate MacAlpine

Can you rip a soul,
Tear it apart?
Can you stab a spirit
Like you'd stab heart?

Can you crush a mind
And change its' shape?
Turn former love
Into lingering hate?

The answer is 'yes,'
All victims know
Bodies can live
With dangling souls
.
And where are the jails
To which they go,
These rippers and rappers
Of gentle souls?

There isn't a place
To wall them in,
No price they pay
For unseen sins.

But there is a joy
Above all else
When the damaged soul
Repairs itself.

And finds some solace
In the oft-told lesson
Crucifixion's meaning
Is Resurrection.
